MICHAEL L. BELL, M.D.
A native of Missoula, MT, Dr. Bell has practiced neurology in Bend since August 2007. He attended medical school at Oregon Health Sciences University followed by neurology residency and epilepsy fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Dr. Bell enjoys caring for diverse neurologic problems, but has additional fellowship training in caring for adults and children with epilepsy (seizure disorders). Other interests include: movement disorders (such as Parkinson’s, tremors, and gait disorders), headache, dementia, vertigo, neuro-oncology, stroke, and nerve conduction studies/EMG.
Dr. Bell’s accomplishments include serving as the Chief Resident in neurology at Mayo Clinic, the Woltman Award for Clinical Neurology (Mayo’s highest clinical award for a graduating neurology resident), and he was awarded an excellence in teaching award as a resident. During his training, he was active in medical student education, including a 6 week stint teaching the Mayo Clinic medical student neuroscience course. As a fellow at Mayo, he achieved the rank of assistant professor. Dr. Bell has published numerous peer reviewed articles and a book chapter. He has presented his research at several national neurology and epilepsy conferences. In Bend, he remains active in medical student education. Dr. Bell is board certified in neurology.
Above all, Dr. Bell enjoys the practice of clinical neurology. He prides himself on offering the best of care for every patient, treating each patient as he would a family member. Patient education is a particular interest, as he aims to empower patients to face illness with knowledge and understanding.
